The company has already begun consolidating staff and downsizing via employee layoffs.
Following the acquisition of The Pantry by Couche-Tard, the company has laid off 250 employees as it consolidates job functions, according to Triangle Business Journal.
The cuts were disclosed via mandatory filing with the N.C. State Commerce Department, and are directly related to the merger.
The notice explained The Pantry is downsizing its executive office facilities located at 305 Gregson Drive in Cary, N.C. and its corporate support center at 1801 Douglas Drive in Sanford. The layoffs are set to impact all areas of business and continue over an 18-month period, with employees impacted by the layoffs being given 60 days notice, Triangle Business Journal reported.
In connection with the merger, each member of Pantry’s board of directors voluntarily resigned from the board. Company executives, including CEO Dennis Hatchell also stepped down.
