7-Eleven isn’t the only chain delving into delivery.
Postmates, which recently partnered with 7-Eleven, is also set to deliver for Walgreens drug stores in all cities where Walgreens has stores and Postmates operates. This newest partnership is helping Postmates to expand delivery beyond the realm of food and into more diverse categories.
According to a report from Fortune, customers will now be able to order from an assortment of goods from a Walgreens catalogue via the Postmates app, and have their orders delivered in a reasonably short amount of time. As of now, Postmates will charge a flat delivery fee of $4.99, but this is likely to change in the future.
Postmates’ expansion into different industries is a part of its effort to lower costs to customers for both goods and delivery. The current dilemma is that, during periods of high demand, Postmates charges a higher delivery rate, in an attempt to discourage orders at those times, but having a variety of services will help to spread drivers out and to eliminate the need to charge higher fees.
