McDonald’s all day breakfast offerings will be limited to select items.
McDonald’s has initiated the nationwide rollout of all day breakfast. Starting this week, breakfast will no longer cease to be served after 10:30 AM.
According to the Chicago Tribune, breakfast sales have grown 5% in the last year at quick service restaurants, and McDonald’s is taking this opportunity to lift the chain out of its current slump.
Customers will now have access to a limited breakfast menu all day. The items on the menu include hotcakes, sausage burritos, fruit and yogurt parfaits, oatmeal and hash browns. In addition, approximately 80% of McDonald’s restaurants will serve McMuffins after regular breakfast hours, while the remaining stores, mainly in the South, will sell biscuits instead
Along with all of the hype over the menu expansion, there is some concern that the movement will contribute to an increase in egg prices, due to the shortage caused by increased demand and constrained supply due to the avian influenza. Along with the increased demand for eggs, case shipments of bacon have also increased to service outlets by 7%.
