The Foodservice Packaging Institute (FPI) has released new free resource guides to the industry. These guides are designed to provide accessible, factual information on foodservice packaging.
The guides offer a comprehensive look at some of the most talked-about topics related to single-use cups, containers, bags, wraps, cutlery, etc., used by restaurants and other establishments that offer prepared foods and beverages.
“Foodservice packaging allows restaurateurs and others to service customers in a safe, sanitary, convenient and economical manner,” said Lynn Dyer, president of FPI. “Foodservice operators and consumers alike are searching for trusted information about packaging, and now they have resources that answer questions and provide valuable information.”
The guides address many of the questions FPI receives regularly from foodservice operators and conscientious consumers — and are especially pertinent at a time when foodservice packaging usage continues to increase. This year marked the first time food and drink sales at restaurants surpassed those at traditional grocery stores.
The easy-to-read guides cover these topics:
Benefits: Reviewing what comprises foodservice packaging and its myriad advantages, the benefits guide depicts why foodservice packaging is a sensible solution.
Environment: Promoting the foodservice packaging industry’s dedication to the environmentally responsible manufacture, distribution and use of its products, the environment guide highlights material innovations, resource recovery and litter reduction efforts.
Operators: This comprehensive graphic contains all the foodservice packaging resources that FPI offers to foodservice operators.
Sanitation: Designed for foodservice operators, the sanitation guide offers useful dos and don’ts and other information on the storing and handling of foodservice packaging.
The new resources are available on FPI’s website at www.fpi.org/Resources.
