Kwik-trip-125-hThe Des Moines Register’s 2016 survey of top workplaces has listed Kwik Trip as the No. 1 large company in the Des Moines, Iowa area.

Kwik Trip was named No. 1 based on a number of criterion, including its extensive employee benefits. According to the report from The Des Moines Register, Kwik Trip shares 40% of its pretax profits with its 16,000 employees. The company also offers health insurance, a 401K savings plan and a month long sabbatical for employees’ 20-year anniversaries, among other benefits.

In addition to the aforementioned employee benefits, Kwik Trip also offers the Retail Helper program through which the company hires individuals with disabilities to stock shelves, empty trash, perform inventory counts and other duties. According to The Des Moines Register, Kwik Trip matches employee’s abilities with their assigned tasks, providing them with a way to earn money.

The Des Moines Register reported that, thanks to the company’s impressive employee benefits, the company boasts only a 30% turnover rate, while the average industry turnover rate is 77%.

Kwik Trip currently operates 59 stores in Iowa under the Kwik Star logo, so that the stores will not be confused with QuikTrip. In total, Kwik Trip operates more than 475 stores in three states, The Des Moines Register reported.

The report from The Des Moines Register also states that the company has plans that may include adding more convenience stores to the Des Moines metro.
