Veterans and volunteers to receive dinner at Petro Stopping Centers on their journey to Arlington National Cemetery.
TravelCenters of America LLC (TravelCenters) is set to welcome volunteers and vets involved in transporting wreaths for the Wreaths Across America (WAA) annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., to its Petro Stopping Centers Bordentown, N.J. location.
“As always we want to thank those drivers and trucking companies who volunteer their time in transporting the wreaths to Arlington – a critical function of this special event,” said Tom O’Brien, President and CEO of TravelCenters. “The Christmas season is an important time to honor and remember our servicemen and women since the holidays can be a challenging time for military members and families.”
Along the route to Arlington, the volunteers and veterans invited by Wreaths Across America will stop at the Petro Stopping Centers location in Bordentown, N.J., on Dec. 14. The volunteers and vets will be served dinner at the Iron Skillet, and spread the WAA message about the importance of remembering our fallen heroes and honoring those who served.
More than 6,000 volunteers are expected to help place the projected 245,000 veteran wreaths at Arlington on Dec. 17, once they are delivered.
The Truckload Carriers Association, or TCA, has been coordinating the nationwide effort of organizing professional truck driver and motor carrier donations of trucks, time and fuel for the WAA annual event since 2012. The Wreaths Across American organization is a not-for-profit charity that delivers remembrance wreaths to military cemeteries all over the country. These activities are made possible by volunteers who help raise funds to sponsor the wreaths and participate in the event.
