Wells Fargo reports beverage and salty snacks numbers for four, 12 and 52 weeks ending Feb. 25.
Wells Fargo Securities reported that all channel dollar sales (including grocery, drug, mass and convenience stores) for the total snack and beverage categories during the four-week period ending Feb. 25, 2017 were up +1.4%.
Total carbonated soft drinks (CSDs) (ex-Energy) dollar sales in all channels were down -1.3% (-0.9% for 12-wks; -0.6% for 52-wks) during the four-week period, driven by modest average equal price growth of +1.7% and equal unit volume declines of -3%.
Energy category dollar sales growth (ex-Mutant, a CSD) was +2.9% (+2% for 12-wks; +4.2% for 52-wks).
In beer and FMB (Fermented Malt Beverages), Cider dollars sales in the four-week period were up +0.5% (-0.4% for 12-wks and +2.1% for 52-wks) driven by equal unit volume declines of -1.6% and +0.7% pricing.
Salty snacks dollar sales increased +1.8% during this period (+1.4% for 12-wks) on -1.6% equal unit growth and +3.5% equal unit pricing.
