Seven & I Holdings anticipates eventual operation of 20,000 U.S. c-stores.
Seven & I Holdings, the Japanese parent company of 7-Eleven, has announced plans for a continued U.S. expansion. The company is now seeking acquisition opportunities to accelerate the company’s North American growth efforts.
According to a recent report from Dallas Business Journal, Seven & I has plans to increase its store count in North America from 8,900 stores to 10,000 stores by 2019. The company has already begun making acquisitions in the U.S. and Canada, including its recent purchase of 79 c-stores from CST Brands.
Not only does Seven & I plan to expand its North American store base, but it also has plans toincorporate Japanese store elements into its newly acquired North American units, including counters featuring fresh food offerings, Dallas Business Journal reported.
According to Dallas Business Journal, these ambitious expansion plans are only the beginning, as the company recently announced that it believes it will be able to expand its store base to 20,000 in the U.S. alone. The company believes that it will attract consumers and appeal to new demographics with the new Japanese elements that will be incorporated in the company’s new locations.
