It amazes me how economists are called upon by the politicians for insight on raising the minimum wage.
The very people that are known for deadlock and ongoing partisan politics are calling on educated, figure-toting, research experts to give insight on the raising of the minimum wage and the affect it would have on the work force.
A couple of questions should be asked before these vote gathering politicians focus on the minimum wage. Are they truly interested in the welfare of the country, or is it the number of votes, raising the minimum wage, might generate for their reelection?
If small business is responsible for over 90% of the new jobs, why are small businesses the last to be listened to, concerning raising the minimum wage?
This “one-size-fits-all” mentality—dreamt up by educated, tunnel vision, challenged individuals, where politicians are more interested in the number of votes, than the voters—is wrong. It’s an ‘Education Thing.’ Government should educate our youth by helping small business provide the youth jobs and self worth, not by promoting entitlements.
Raising the minimum wage is “NOT” the way to go.
