McDonald’s continues to search for ways to combat falling sales.
The new McDonald’s mobile app will be available to customers nationwide by October this year.
According to a report from The Daily Meal, the new McDonald’s mobile app, which was tested first in San Diego and will launch next in New York, will soon be available to customers across the U.S. The new mobile app is another one of McDonald’s attempts to combat falling sales, and it will act as a beverage loyalty program.
Similar to the loyalty programs for Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts, the app will feature promotions for free beverages when customers purchase five of a certain beverage. The beverages that are to be included are the McCafe coffees, frappes and milkshakes. McDonald’s hopes that the new app will inspire customer loyalty and earn the business of mobile app users.
In addition to the beverage loyalty program, the new mobile app will also feature a store locator, nutritional facts for menu items and coupons for use local McDonald’s restaurants. However, although the app is a step in the right direction, customers are not yet able to order or pay for food through the new app, features that chains like Taco Bell and Chipotle have adopted already.
