Boyd Coffee Co. has partnered with Club Coffee to create the first 100% compostable, fully-certified single-serve beverage pod. The new single-serve pod is made from more than 90% renewable resources, and the pod’s ring is made from coffee chaff – the skin of the coffee bean that comes off during the roasting process. Every single part of the pod is designed to be digestible by, and accessible for, bacteria, which supports the composting process. The pod meets U.S. and international standards and certifications required by municipal compost manufacturers. The compostable pod is compatible with most Keurig brewing systems, including the new Keurig 2.0 brewers. Boyd Coffee’s new 100% Compostable Coffee Pods are available for grocers in a 12-count box with an SRP of $9.99 in the following flavors and roasts: Good Morning – medium roast; French No. 6 – dark roast; Hi-Rev, which offers a high caffeine level and medium to dark roast; Lost Lake Decaf Organic, which is certified organic, Rainforest Alliance Certified and medium-to-dark roast; and Red Wagon Organic Coffee, which is certified organic, Rainforest Alliance Certified and dark roast.
