Wawa is looking to recognize non-profit organizations that help to preserve freedom and empower individuals to become better citizens.
The Wawa Foundation has introduced the new “Hero Award,” through which the foundation will honor a non-profit organization serving the greater Philadelphia area. This new award seeks to recognize an organization that assists others and helps to advance the community it serves through preserving freedom, protecting safety, inspiring learning and encouraging and empowering others to become better citizens and community members.
The Wawa Foundation is currently seeking nominations for its first-ever “Hero Award.” The Wawa Foundation Hero Award is being launched during Philadelphia’s Wawa Welcome America! festivities and will be presented as part of the Independence Day morning ceremony on July 4th in front of Independence Hall. The recipient of The Wawa Foundation Hero Award will receive a $50,000 grant and the three runners up will each receive $10,000 grants.
Non-profit organizations may apply by submitting a video and/or a short story with background on the organization’s work with, and impact on, the community. Videos must be submitted through The Wawa Foundation website. The Wawa Foundation will select four of the most compelling stories and put them to a public vote. The organization with the most votes will be presented to The Wawa Foundation Hero Award Panel for final approval and determination. The deadline for submissions is May 30th, 2016.
